It’s a great accomplishment for a company if the employees feel privileged to work in a company in true sense. The company should focus on provide training to the workers. And along with that help them to develop and have opportunities that offer different grounds of satisfaction.

Event planning and management has never been short of surprises. If you talk about rules then it has a bundle of it. So even with years of experience an event manager might find a new and more efficient way to plan an event. Or, so many options may always confuse you.event

It is always good to start with booking the place. One should try to book the place as early as possible.  Give yourself as much time as possible. You might not believe but there are some popular event management venues that require a 1year advance booking as these places are very tough to get.

Are Managers Underpaid?

ManagersIt is a very common practice in majority of the business companies that managers work more than the employees. A manager works for at least 12 hours a day whereas an average employee works for 8 hours at best. Now we all know that managers do get paid more than their subordinates. But is the extra payment good enough and can it justify the extra amount of effort that the manager puts in? I would say the answer in NO. If you calculate and bring down the yearly salary of a manager to an hourly basis, you will find out that, a manager’s hourly income is less than that of a normal employee. Because the manager is not getting paid at the same hourly basis scale as the subordinates are. This was the mathematics. But it’s not the only angle to look at this issue. Managers work from early morning to late night. This causes a severe lack of sleep and can affect the health and mind negatively. And to cure these problems they end up spending half of their money at the doctor’s place. Moreover, the job stress and tension does not help their cause. To add to this, their personal life gets the worst possible shape as the wives of managers have a zillion complains about them not sharing enough time with her or the children. Again, the job stress that leads to sleeplessness causes inefficiency. It hampers decision making and thereby affects the performance. When that happens, managers never find a scarcity of people to question their ability and loyalty. So in a nutshell, managers losing their sanity for getting the job done for a company and in the process, getting cursed by the higher authority. If you are a manager and you are a victim of this situation, then the best thing to do is delegate your authority. Trusting your subordinates is very important. You need to share your workload with them and relax a bit. If you are not confident about them, then train them. Share your knowledge with them. Let them take a few decisions. This will help them to grow as a responsible subordinate and will also give you more time to spend with your family. Try to decrease your working hours and if you act smart you can get your job done by working 2 hours less every day. Try to do that and you might get your job and salary justified.

The acceleration of globalization has given the multinational companies an opportunity to expand their business beyond the border. There are so many companies who have started their production plant in different countries. This has brought about the concept of ex-pat managers. You cannot think of a successful carrier without crossing the border. Most of the good companies send all their managers abroad at least for once. And the improvement of your carrier might depend on that. So you need to know the ways to become a successful ex-pat.

Stay focused on your area of expertise. Once you go to some other countries as an ex-pat, initially your local officials are likely to question everything that you do or every move that you make. Not everyone likes to be bossed by someone not belonging to their nation or culture. But be focused and do things rightly. Once they realize that you are good at what you do, they will start respecting you

A very efficient way of making life a lot easier is to learn the local language. So many ex-pats would finish their tenure without doing that but you should at least put an effort to learn the language. When you are working outside your country, it’s not only you who is dealing with a different culture. The people working with you are also going through the same. Make sure you represent your culture in a nice and appreciable manner.

Once you are out of your comfort zone, double check your instinct. Language is a great barrier. People might want to manipulate you using the language and give you a wrong idea about what is going on. So be sure before you decide something basing on the given information.

A different country means a completely new set of ideas and assumptions. You might think that what you assumed is obvious but you might be questioned and explain why you think so. This happens because of the different ways of life and the belief. It might also happen that what you take for granted to be the way, is no longer the way to go in that country. May be they are advanced or they are yet to reach there.

Make sure you do everything right and have faith in yourself. Be confident and open minded and you will enjoy being an ex-pat.
