Anatomy of Globalization – An Insight

Globalization

The thing called globalization is said to be founded by Phoenicians. The reason behind this is, they were great businessman and traders. They crossed their territories to trade their goods and purchase other goods from other civilizations. Some would argue that Chinese were the ones who gave birth to globalization. And then there were Spanish, English and Dutch colonies to consider as well.

China would have become the biggest and the most powerful country in the world if Admiral Zheng continued with his journey all around the globe with his fleet of treasures. But the same old Chinese thing kept him from doing that. They had no interest what so ever in what the world had to offer. They were too possessed by their own country. If you notice, you can clearly see the potential of china as a trading country in the present world. China went to the furthest extent of international business like no other nations back then.

For us these do not really matter where globalization came from. We are happy that it is here and confident that it is here to stay as long as the human civilization. But we have to change the way globalization is shaping up to be and use it in a positive way to make a better world. Globalization if handled efficiently can become a great tool in changing the fate of so many trade deficit nations of the world.

Globalization is a very dynamic process. So countries should be fast growing to keep up with it. It requires having all the internal problems of a country solved to do that. Globalization like any other modern thing favors only the productive and efficient countries but it can be really bad for the countries with no productivity. If a nation is having internal collisions politically or of any other form, it’s likely to lose grip and lose their wealth to a nation that has the ability to handle it properly.

Utilize Time and Prosper

Time Management

“Oh, god! It’s already 6:00. I didn’t finish my assignment.” You might think that I sneaked in your house and heard you saying this. But trust me I did not. In our busy lives, it is a common problem that we face. And in most cases we fail to deal with it and end up pressurizing ourselves. It happens because we fail to be as productive as we expect ourselves to be and waste time regretting about it. But if it is a problem it has a solution. And it is called time management. Keep following.

First of all make the maximum use of time while you are at work and use it efficiently. To do that, take a pen and a paper, write down what are the things you need to do and give yourself a time limit for completing the job. It helps you to keep your brain stress free and gives you a chance to place and complete your commitments more effectively.

When you get a grip of the day’s work and can finish it in time as planned take the next step. Prepare yourself for the next day of work. Make a list of what you are going to do the next day. You are suggested to do it before you leave the office. This will give you a relaxed time in the next morning before going to office and helps you to stay relaxed.

Be outspoken and communicate with people. If you are given a task be clear about it and know exactly what you have to do. If you want to be productive the first thing you need to know is what you want to produce. Then make sure you know the time allocation for the task and get well equipped with all essentials to complete the task. This will save you some time and energy.

When you have managed to do these things rightly then the next step is to observe. Take a time out during the weekend and check how the plan is working for you. Find out what you did last week. And keep on doing it at every weekend and you will observe a gradual increase in your efficiency. And one morning you will find out it’s 6:00 but you are still relaxed as you have done everything you had to do.

Motivate your Employees for Better Production

Motivating PeopleThere has been an argument about the motivational factors of the employees of a company as long as companies have existed. So many theories have been put forward and so many objections have been there. But one thing has been a granted truth. That is employees are the most important part of an organization.

There has always been a huge debate about the idea that money can be a motivator. In so many famous and respected theories of employee satisfaction you will not find money as a motivating factor. Again so many managers of good companies have admitted the fact that money does motivate some of the employees. We also find another factor that motivates employees and that is job satisfaction and happy employees.

The idea that money motivates employees is not completely true again it’s not invalid. Actually it varies person to person. If you have 500 employees in your company then you might find 200 of them are motivated by money and other 300 are not. The mind set and requirement of those 200 are different from the 300. Also the level of motivation will differ within those 200. That means if you increase the salary of 200 people by $3000, you will see a different level of increment in production among them which means same money motivates them differently. Some are highly motivated and some are just motivated. Another set of scholars say that, there are two types of factors such as motivating factors and demotivating factors. Money can reduce demotivation but cannot motivate. So it can be said as the neutralizing factor. But that is not all. But before going to that, let us talk about the other factor that motivates the workers.

Employee satisfaction or employee happiness is unanimously accepted factor of motivation. An employee is likely to be more productive if they are happy and satisfied with their job. There are ways to make them happy with the job. Giving them importance, respect enough space, a chance to have a say in important decision making process and incentives can work wonders in motivating the employees and make them more responsible and sincere to their work. When it comes to incentive, you will have to make the employees feel that they are appreciated for their effort. This can be expressed by giving them some gifts. May be a holiday at a great destination at companies cost. It can be money but it does not have to be money. Read the mind of the employee and find out what would satisfy him more and go with it.

Manage your Co-Workers in the Right Way

Handling Co-workersManagerial positions are totally different from any other job positions. Managers have to deal and handle workers. It does not matter whether you manage 5 people at a grocery store or you manage 500 people at a multinational company office. As long as you are a manager you have to abide by certain rules which would make you a respected manager.

You need to learn to respect people and appreciate them for their work. Make yourself familiar to the thought that “people work with you, not under you”. For instance, if you are in a presentation, introducing someone then choose the perfect way of introduction. Say “I’d like to introduce Mrs. Gates, who works with me in the marketing sector”. Doing this you are serving two purposes. First, you are making your team member feel important and earning respect from her and next time when you work with her, you are likely to get the best out of her. Secondly, you are presenting yourself as a dedicated team player to your higher authority.

The next thing you should do is to share your knowledge and experience with your colleagues. If you are given a task and you have a team to guide, as a manager you should discuss with them about the problem and take their individual opinion. There are so many managers who keep their experience locked in a bottle like a diamond but it’s not like that. Not sharing information and knowledge expresses your feelings of insecurity as a manager. If you share and guide them you are likely to be appreciated by your team mates and through grapevine, your name will be pronounced as a fantastic person to work with. The higher authority might think that you are ready for the next big step.

The Way to Handle Customers

Handle CustomersIn the modern business world your company is as good as the customer wants it to be. They buy our product because they need it. That’s what they need. But the companies need them to buy. So, we both need something from each other. There are a thousand of companies operating in the same business field and offers the same product quality. If a company wants be successful, they need to know how to satisfy the customers. How to make them feel better. The best way to do this is behave properly with the customers.

We need to understand one thing very carefully and that is how important the customers are to our business. We need to make them feel better and we need to make them feel important. Respect every single customer, no matter if he buys a needle or an aero plane from you.

Make them feel that you are putting an effort to understand what the customer is saying. Don’t give them the feeling that they are only a way for you to make profit. Give them the feeling that you care for them.

Act to their demand. If the customer is complaining, write it down even if you don’t have to. If he asks a question, answer it. If you do not know the answer, then try to find it out. Never turn a deaf ear or a blind eye to a customer.

Emphasize on active listening. When the customer is speaking, listen. Do not interrupt. If you have to make a point, do it after he/she is done speaking. Once they are done talking, then speak and interact. After you are done, ask them if you were able to make it clear or not. Get a feedback from the customer about your service.

Put yourself in customer’s shoes. Try to understand what they need, what they are looking for. Your first job is to understand, not to be understood. If you want satisfied customer, listen more, talk less.
Be spontaneous and try to solve a customer’s problem on the spot rather than keep him waiting. Empower them with information and respect. Make them clear about your product and the warranty process and conditions. If you want a loyal customer, keep no catch.
